Sugar Showdown fetes Full Belly

Written by Sami Herbert

Sugar Showdown attendees supporting The Full Belly Project choose favorite treats from local dessert vendors in true western showdown style. Participating vendors, dressed for the occasion and showcased their sugary sweets, included: Imaginary Friends Bakery, La Gemma Fine Italian Pasteries, The Scoop, McNally’s Fudge, Nye’s Cream Sandwiches, Big Sugar Waffles, Good Cookies, Half Baked Confections, Luna Pops, and Café Liardi.

The inaugural Sugar Showdown, held on 23 October 2010 at Thalian Hall and hosted by Sandy Vaughn and Cullen Moss from Changing Channels, raised funds for The Full Belly Project in our 8th year of service. Guests at the event sampled sugary sweets from local vendors and voted for their favorite in six different categories. Winners in each category include:

Best Table Presentation: Imaginary Friends Bakery

Best In Show: Half Baked Confections

Most Creative Dessert: Big Sugar Waffles

Favorite Frozen Treat: The Scoop

Best Baked Delicacy: La Gemma Fine Italian Pastries

Best Presentation:  Café Liardi

The Full Belly Project is thankful for participation from local vendors and guests.  Much obliged, for supporting our organization as we celebrated our 8thbirthday in good company with plenty of desserts to go around.  We hope to see ya’ll again next year!
